Katy Atkinson started her career in 1978, working on a Colorado congressional campaign. From 1979-1981, Katy served on the staff of the Republican Leadership in the Colorado House of Representatives, followed by a two-year stint as Communications Manager at the Denver Chamber of Commerce. Since that time, Katy has provided media relations, communications, and strategic services for a host of clients including legislative, congressional, U.S. Senate, gubernatorial, and issue campaigns. She formed Katy Atkinson & Associates in 1991.
Members of the national and Colorado media frequently call on Ms. Atkinson for her political insights. In 1996, she was a regular on TCI News’ national weekly television program "Race for the Presidency." Katy appears on the public television program "Colorado Inside Out," and was the political analyst for KMGH Channel 7 News. She served as a Fox 31 News political analyst during the 2009 Democratic National Convention in Denver.
Katy is a member of the Director’s Society of Denver Center Theater Company and a producing partner for their 2010 production of Othello, 2011 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream and their 2012 production of The Taming of the Shrew. She's also active with the Colorado Mountain Club, completing it's Wilderness Trekking School and Backcountry Ski Touring School.
